About Octopoda

Octopoda (Pty) Ltd is a 100% black woman owned company founded and established in 2017 by Tintswalo Cinderella Mhlongo, affectionately known as Cindy.

The name of the company is derived from zoological definition of cephalopod molluscs comprising the octopus that has eight arms.

An octopus symbolizes complexity, creativity, diversity, intelligence, illusion, insight, mystery, purity, variability and vision, which are some of the inspiring values and founding characteristics that underpin the company.

Current Focus

The current company focus is to maintain vegetation that is growing along Eskom electricity lines, Power stations, substations and the electricity lines of Municipalities.

As the sole owner and director of the company, Cindy has a big vision to build a dynamic Energy-mix service provider - company that will meet the energy needs of various customers in both South Africa and the rest of the African continent.

According to Africa Energy Outlook special report (2019) “chief among the challenges in Africa is providing universal access to reliable, modern, affordable and sustainable energy to a young, fast growing and increasingly urban and rural populations”. This is at the heart of what drives the company.

Director's Bio
